Yuzuki Castle is a medieval castle site located in the Dogo (Dogo Park) area of Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. It was primarily the base of the Kono clan and is said to have been built from the Kamakura period through the Northern and Southern Courts and Muromachi periods. Unlike early modern castles that are primarily comprised of castle towers and stone walls, Yuzuki Castle is notable for the well-preserved remains of its earthworks, moats, and hillside structure that make use of the uneven terrain of a "hillside castle" (a cross between a mountain castle and a flatland castle).
The site of Yuzuki Castle has now been turned into a park, where you can observe the remains of the castle's enclosures, dry moats, and earthworks up close. There is also an exhibition facility that explains the origins of the castle and artifacts unearthed during excavations, making it an attractive place to learn about the structure of medieval castles and the history of the region. It is also a famous spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, and you can enjoy a historical stroll and seasonal scenery.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Public transportation: Take the Iyotetsu (tram) from Dogo Onsen Station or Matsuyama City Station to Dogo Onsen, then walk for about 7-10 minutes to the Yuzuki Castle Ruins (Dogo Park).
- By JR: From JR Matsuyama Station, transfer to the Iyotetsu City Tram bound for Dogo Onsen. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes, including transfers.
- By car: Approximately 20-30 minutes by car from Matsuyama Expressway Matsuyama IC (depending on road conditions). Parking is available around the park, but it can get crowded during peak seasons. Please check the parking information for the Dogo Onsen area in advance.
- Walking: It is accessible by foot from Dogo Onsen and the Botchan train stop. It is convenient to combine walking with sightseeing in the surrounding area.

- Crowds: The entire area around Dogo Onsen is crowded during cherry blossom and autumn foliage season, as well as on weekends and holidays. If you want to avoid crowded parking lots and surrounding facilities, it's best to visit on a weekday or early in the morning.
- Manners: As this is a historic site, climbing on the ruins, digging up the soil, damaging the vegetation, etc. are prohibited. Please be sure to follow all information boards and no-trespassing signs.
- Facility opening and closing times: While you can freely explore the park itself, indoor facilities such as museums have opening hours and closing days. Please check the official website or call before visiting.
- Clothing: The ruins have many ups and downs and stairs, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Be careful in rainy weather as there are slippery areas.
- Photography/Drones: General photography is allowed, but there may be restrictions on tripods, commercial use, and drone flying. Please check in advance.
- Winter and summer precautions: In summer, you will need to take measures against the heat (drinking water and a hat), and in winter, the roads may freeze over. Please be prepared according to the season.
