Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Uminonakamichi Seaside Park (located in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City) is a vast, comprehensive park developed on the sandbar known as "Uminonakamichi," which stretches into Hakata Bay. Its well-balanced layout of nature and leisure facilities, including large flower fields, grassy areas, playgrounds, cycling trails, campsites, and beaches, makes it popular with a wide range of people, from families and couples to cyclists and photography enthusiasts. Each season brings its own peak flower viewing season (tulips, nemophila, sunflowers, cosmos, etc.), with particularly gorgeous scenery to be enjoyed in spring and autumn. Combined with the adjacent aquarium, Marine World Uminonakamichi, this is a spot where you can enjoy a full day.

Nearby spots
– Marine World Uminonakamichi (adjacent large aquarium)
– Seaside area/beach (within the park but a separate area worth seeing)
- Fukuoka city center (Tenjin and Hakata): Within 20-40 minutes by car or train. Can be combined with sightseeing (around Hakata Station, Canal City, Fukuoka Tower, etc.).
– Food stalls and seafood restaurants: Seaside restaurants and places where you can enjoy local food are scattered throughout the city (easy to stop by on your way home).
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: It gets very crowded during the spring flower season (cherry blossoms, tulips, nemophila, etc.), Golden Week, summer vacation, and the autumn cosmos season. The parking lot fills up easily, so we recommend using public transportation and arriving early.
- What to wear and bring: You will be walking around the large park, so bring comfortable shoes, a hat, and drinks (to stay hydrated). It is useful to bring a jacket to protect against heatstroke in the summer and a jacket in the spring and autumn, as there may be strong winds. It is also a good idea to bring insect repellent and a picnic blanket.
- Pets: There are rules regarding whether pets are allowed, area restrictions, and the need to keep pets on leashes. Please check in advance as there are areas where pets are prohibited, such as flower beds and play areas.
- Garbage and etiquette: Take your trash home or dispose of it in designated areas. Please observe park etiquette by not entering flower beds, and refraining from shouting or dangerous behavior.
- Weather and swimming: Beach use and events are subject to weather and annual operating conditions. Please check swimming availability and monitoring times in advance.
- Facility information changes: Opening hours, admission fees, rental fees, event schedules, etc. are subject to change depending on the year and season. Please be sure to check the Uminonakamichi Seaside Park official website and operation information for the latest information.
If necessary, we will also add a seasonal calendar of the best viewing times, details on bicycle rentals and parking, and links to the official website.
