Kawachi Fujien is a privately owned botanical garden in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, known both domestically and internationally for the beauty of its wisteria. Founded as a private garden, the garden has grown a diverse range of varieties over many years of cultivation and care, with the tunnel-shaped "Wisteria Tunnel" being a major attraction. When in full bloom, the purple, white, and pink flower clusters that fill the space like a natural curtain captivate tourists. Measures have been put into place to protect the flowers while allowing visitors to enjoy them comfortably, such as nighttime illuminations and time-based entry restrictions.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Nearest major stations: JR Kokura Station and JR Orio Station in the center of Kitakyushu City are the access points (as the park is located in a mountainous area, there may be limited public transportation).
- Train + Bus/Taxi: The most common way to get there is by local bus or taxi from Kokura Station. Bus routes and frequency of service vary depending on the season, so we recommend checking in advance.
- By car: Approximately 20-40 minutes by car from central Kitakyushu (depending on traffic conditions and your starting point). Parking is often available, but it can fill up, so it's best to arrive early.
- Sightseeing tours: During the peak season, day trips that include the garden are sometimes organized, so if public transportation is inconvenient, joining a tour is a convenient option.

- Visiting the main wisteria tunnel: 30 minutes to 1 hour
- If you want to leisurely walk around the park and take photos: 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes
- If you include breaks and travel time in the area, you should aim for around 2 hours to enjoy the tour with plenty of time to spare.

- Mojiko Retro (Moji Ward): A tourist spot where you can enjoy historical buildings and port town scenery (approximately 30-50 minutes by car)

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: The wisteria blooming season (usually from late April to mid-May) is extremely busy. There may be entrance restrictions or time-specified ticket systems, so we recommend making a reservation in advance or checking official information. Weekends and public holidays tend to be particularly crowded.
- Manners: Picking flowers or breaking branches is prohibited. Photography is permitted, but please be mindful of restrictions on the use of tripods and large equipment, and be mindful not to obstruct the passage of other visitors. Pets may not be allowed or may be restricted in some areas.
- Clothing and walking comfort: The park has some hills and narrow paths, so it is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes. In rainy weather, some areas may become slippery.
- Climate and flowering period: The flowering period of wisteria varies from year to year. Temperature differences, rain, and strong winds can cause the flowers to fall early, so be sure to check the official social media and website for information on the best time to see the flowers.
- Facilities: Toilets and food and drink facilities may be limited, so it's a good idea to prepare anything you need in advance.
- Photography/Commercial Use: If you wish to use photographs for commercial purposes or for commercial photography, you may need to consult with the school in advance.
