Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Mount Hotaka (elevation: approximately 2,158m) is one of the most iconic mountains located in Katashina Village, Tone District, Gunma Prefecture, and has long been beloved as the ally peak of Joshu (Gunma). It has long been the object of mountain worship, and there are areas at the foot of the mountain where historical sites and shrines related to this faith are located.
