Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Taishakukyo is a scenic valley carved by the Taishaku River in Tojo Town, Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Characterized by limestone gorges and cliffs formed by years of erosion, and a landscape interwoven with clear streams, it is attractive for its natural beauty and the way it changes with the seasons. It is particularly famous for its autumn foliage, which attracts many tourists. Another attraction is the combination of walking trails, observation decks, sightseeing boats, and cave tours, which allow you to enjoy the scenery from the water as well as the enjoyment of the view.

- Walking environment: The trail has steep steps and slippery areas. Please bring comfortable shoes, rain gear, and drinking water. Be careful in rainy or snowy weather as there is a risk of slipping and falling.
- Environmental Conservation and Manners: Please be mindful of local rules and environmental conservation, such as always taking your trash with you, not touching plants or animals, and avoiding smoking and using fires outside designated areas.
- Seasonal precautions: Take precautions against insects in summer, and be aware of road restrictions due to frozen roads and snow accumulation in winter. Caves and some facilities may be closed for the season or for inspections.
