Sandanbeki is a sea cliff (a cliff formed by sea erosion) located in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture. It reaches a height of several tens of meters, and its greatest feature is the impressive scenery created by the sheer rock face and rough waves. Caves and cracks have been formed in the cliffs, which have been eroded by the waves over the years, and the sight of the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean (Kuroshio Current) crashing on them is a sight to behold.
As a tourist spot, there is an observation deck with a panoramic view of the cliffs, and an elevator and walkway to the Sandanbeki Cave, which takes you down to near the sea level, allowing you to experience the dynamism of nature up close. The impressive topography, the blue of the sea, and the changing appearance depending on the season and weather are all attractive, and the sunsets and the spray of the waves during stormy weather are particularly photogenic.

- Bus: Approximately 10-20 minutes by local bus (tourist route) from Shirahama Station. The number of buses and schedules vary depending on the season, so we recommend checking in advance.
- Taxi: Approximately 10 minutes by taxi from Shirahama Station (depending on traffic conditions).
- By car: Accessible via the Hanwa Expressway and national highways. Parking lots are available around Shirahama (fees may apply).
- From the airport: Express buses and direct buses may operate from Kansai International Airport and the Osaka area. Travel times vary depending on the flight and traffic conditions, so please check the latest information from each transportation company.
