Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Kannonzaki Park (Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture) is a coastal urban park developed around Kannonzaki, the entrance to Tokyo Bay. Since ancient times, it has been a key point for maritime traffic, with lighthouses and coastal defense facilities located there, and since the Meiji period, it has been known as a place linked to the history of modern lighthouses and fortresses. The park is home to a variety of coastal views, walking trails, observation facilities, and areas for observing nature, with attractive views of ships passing through Tokyo Bay, Mount Fuji, and the Boso Peninsula. It is also a popular spot for observing seasonal flowers and wildlife in the tide pools, as well as for picnics and photography.
