Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Yobuko Morning Market is a traditional morning market held in Yobuko Town, Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, and has long been a popular place for buying and selling local seafood and agricultural products. Taking advantage of its location near the local fishing port, the market is lined with shops selling fresh seafood, including squid caught that morning, dried fish, vegetables, pickles, local prepared foods, and souvenirs. The "Live Squid Demonstration (Live Squid Sashimi)" is particularly popular with tourists, and its greatest attraction is the freshness and texture of the translucent squid being prepared right before your eyes.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: Weekends, public holidays, Golden Week, summer vacation, and long weekends are extremely crowded. Parking and queues can be long, so please consider using public transportation and arriving early.
- Cash: Many small stalls only accept cash, so it's convenient to have coins and 1,000 yen bills on hand.
- Photography etiquette: When taking photos in the store, please ask the seller first to avoid disturbing the products or cooking.
- Tasting and purchasing etiquette: Tasting may or may not be allowed at some stores. Be careful not to sample large quantities of food without permission or to pressure customers into buying.
- Weather and sea conditions: As the market is close to the sea, business hours may be suspended or shortened in the event of bad weather or high waves. Please check the latest information from official websites or tourist information before visiting.
- Waste and packaging: When purchasing fresh produce, check how it will be kept cool and transported. If packaging or ice packs are required, prepare them in advance or ask the store.
- Hygiene: Hygiene management is important in restaurants that serve raw foods such as live squid. If you are concerned about your health, do not push yourself and choose cooked food instead.
