Egawa Beach (Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture)

## Overview (history, features, appeal)
Egawa Beach (Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture) is known for its unique landscape of old pillars (remnants of electric poles and fishing stakes) lined up on the tidal flats facing Tokyo Bay. The pillars, said to be remnants of former fishing, aquaculture, and offshore communications and power facilities, stand on the tidal flats, which change appearance depending on the tide, and their silhouettes reflected on the water's surface are particularly photogenic at dusk and low tide. The beach has become increasingly popular on social media and among photography enthusiasts, and is attracting attention as a fantastical photo spot.

Features and attractive points:
– A unique landscape created by countless pillars standing on the tidal flats
- Beautiful reflection photos of sunsets and magic hour
- The view changes depending on the season and tide, so you can enjoy it again and again

## Highlights
- Sunset and mirror-like water: The pillars are reflected in the shallow water at low tide, making it easy to take silhouette photos. Sunny evenings are especially recommended.
- The shape of the tidal flats at low tide: The unique features of the tidal flats themselves, such as the patterns in the mud, scattered shells, and footprints made when walking, are also a highlight.
- Night view/starry sky: Because there is little light around, you may be able to photograph stars and the Milky Way on clear nights (please be aware of light pollution and safety).
- Seasonal changes: In winter, the air is clear and the sunsets are vivid, while in summer, clouds and humidity can create dramatic skies.
- Photography tips: Use a tripod and wide-angle lens to create a sense of perspective, a low angle to emphasize the reflection on the water surface, and an ND filter for long exposure are also effective. It is a good idea to check the low tide times on the tide table.

## Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- public transport:
– The nearest train is the JR Uchibo Line (Kisarazu Station, Sodegaura direction is the nearest entrance). From Kisarazu Station, it is common to take a bus or taxi. As there may be limited bus service, we recommend checking the timetable in advance.
– Car:
- From Tokyo, it is convenient to access via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line (approximately 20-40 minutes from the Kisarazu exit, depending on traffic conditions). Parking space is limited in some areas, so please avoid parking on the street or private property.
– Taxi/rental car:
- Approximately 15-30 minutes by taxi from Kisarazu Station (depending on traffic conditions). It is convenient to combine this trip with sightseeing in the surrounding area by renting a car.
- Advance confirmation:
– Public transport frequency and local parking conditions change frequently, so please check the latest timetables, maps and parking information before you travel.

## Estimated stay (estimated time required)
- Mainly for photography (low tide/sunset): 1.5 to 3 hours (including the time before and after low tide)
– Short walks and visits: 30 minutes to 1 hour
– Relax and enjoy sightseeing in the area: half a day to a full day

*If you are aiming for the best time to take photos (especially at sunset), it is best to arrive early and take into account the tide table and sunset time.

## Nearby spots
– Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu (shopping, dining)
– Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line Umihotaru (observation and rest facility)
– Kaneda Fishing Port area (seafood and fishing port atmosphere)
– Futtsu Park and Cape Futtsu (views, walks, and car access available)
- Local restaurants (seafood): There are many restaurants in Kisarazu where you can enjoy seafood.

## Things to note (crowds, etiquette, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Check the tide levels: The best shots are taken at low tide. When the tide comes in, it can be difficult and dangerous to move around, so be sure to check the tide table before proceeding.
- Mud and slippery ground: There are areas of deep mud on the tidal flats, which can cause your shoes to get stuck or you may slip. We recommend wearing shoes or boots that you don't mind getting dirty. Do not go into deep mud alone.
– No trespassing on private property or equipment: Climbing or touching the poles is dangerous, so please avoid damaging other people's property or equipment.
- Parking and traffic manners: Parking on roads or private property without permission is a nuisance. If there are designated parking lots, please use them and do not obstruct the passage of local residents.
- Garbage and environmental protection: Always take back any garbage you produce. Be considerate of the natural environment and marine life.
- Drone and photography rules: Drone flying may be restricted near airports and densely populated areas (particular care should be taken around Umihotaru and air routes). Check the rules in advance and fly with consideration for your surroundings.
– Busy times: On weekends, holidays, and in the evenings, the park may be crowded with visitors and cars looking to take photos. Please be considerate and considerate of others.
- Protection from the cold and heatstroke: The wind is strong at the seaside, so the perceived temperature can drop. Don't forget to protect yourself from the cold in winter and heatstroke in summer.

Please use the above information to plan your visit safely and with proper manners. We recommend checking local official information, map apps, and tide tables in advance to find out about low tide times and transportation information.
