Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Cape Sata is a cape in Minami Osumi Town, Kimotsuki District, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is known for being the southernmost point on the Kyushu mainland (the mainland consisting of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu). Its cliffs jutting out into the Pacific Ocean and expansive ocean views are its attractions, and the tip of the cape is equipped with monuments, observation decks, and walking trails. It has long served as a landmark for sea routes, and the surrounding area is home to lighthouses, monuments, and walking trails, allowing you to enjoy both the natural scenery and the travel sensation of visiting the southernmost point of the mainland.
