The Yokohama Doll Museum is a museum that specializes in collecting, preserving, and exhibiting dolls from Japan and abroad. Its diverse collection includes Japanese Hina dolls, local dolls, and dress-up dolls, as well as traditional dolls and teddy bears from around the world, and is showcased in both permanent and special exhibitions. Its distinctive features include exhibits that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, and seasonal special exhibitions and workshops that promote cultural exchange and the appeal of craftsmanship through dolls. There are also plenty of highlights as artefacts, such as the delicate kimono fabrics and different expressions, and the museum also provides comprehensive explanations with photographs and documents.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Nearest station: Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Minatomirai Line, just a few minutes' walk away. This is the most convenient location.
- Other: It is within walking distance of Ishikawacho Station and Kannai Station on the JR Negishi Line (approximately a 10-20 minute walk depending on the station). From Yokohama Station, it is easily accessible by Minatomirai Line or bus.
- By car: There are paid parking lots in the area (around Yamashita Park and in Chinatown, etc.), but they tend to fill up on weekends and during busy periods, so we recommend using public transportation.

- Permanent exhibition only: 30 to 60 minutes
- Permanent exhibition + museum shop and cafe use: around 60 minutes
- If you are participating in a workshop or taking your time to appreciate the exhibits: 90 minutes to 2 hours

- Yokohama Chinatown: A tourist area where you can enjoy eating and strolling around (just a short walk away)
- Yamashita Park: A great spot for a stroll along the waterfront and enjoy the harbor view
- Yokohama Marine Tower / Red Brick Warehouse / Osanbashi Pier: Popular tourist spots within walking or taxi distance
- Motomachi Shopping Street: A stroll along the street lined with boutiques and cafes
- Cup Noodles Museum (Minato Mirai): A popular facility for families (a short walk or public transportation)
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: The number of visitors increases on weekends, public holidays, during the Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) season in spring, during Golden Week, and during summer vacation, and the exhibition rooms can get crowded. If you want to avoid the crowds, it's best to go on a weekday morning.
- Photography and exhibit etiquette: As many of the exhibits are delicate, there are some exhibits where photography and flash photography are prohibited. Please follow the instructions on the exhibition panels.
- Food and drink/bringing in: Eating and drinking are generally prohibited inside the building, so please eat and drink in designated rest areas or nearby restaurants.
- Traveling with children/strollers: There are exhibits and experiences for children, but the passageways inside the museum are narrow in places, so you may be asked to fold up your stroller when it is crowded.
- Barrier-free access: Many facilities are barrier-free, with steps removed and toilets adapted, but please check the official website in advance for details.
- Pets: In principle, pets are not allowed (with the exception of assistance dogs). Please be mindful of your belongings and clothing, and take care not to damage the exhibits.
- Closing days and opening hours: The museum may be closed temporarily due to exhibit changes, inspections, etc. We recommend checking the official website in advance for admission fees, opening hours, and closing days.
